The Process Engineer is responsible for ensuring the product produced meets quality standards and minimizes cost. This role will develop and evaluate processes and systems which integrate human work factors, inventory control, logistics, material flow and quality control with the focus upon employee safety, quality of the product, cost reduction, and sustainability.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Implements teams and projects to focus on areas for improvement or sources of short-term process failures and provide training on quality requirement
  • Monitors process & product parameters
  • Analyzes parameter deviations
  • Develops counter measures and monitors the progress of the counter measures.
  • Manages all quality-related issues within the manufacturing team (e.g. internal, supplier, customer)
  • Participates in cross-functional teams in the development of new products or changes related to current products
  • Supports regular inspection meetings with representatives from appropriate departments to establish an action plan to improve processes and quality
  • Completes timely investigations and resolutions for all quality related material issues
  • Improves process recipes to reach the expected capabilities, challenge the technology, and identify opportunities or implement changes to improve product or reduce costs using the knowledge of fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment, and quality control standards
  • Conducts root cause analysis using statistical methods and recommends changes in designs, tolerances, or processes methods
  • Creates awareness and buy in at all levels of the organization on process and quality management concepts, best practices and strategic relevance
  • Communicates performance to management team on key quality and processes indicators
  • Establishes and implements quality control systems and resources for problem identification, resolution, reporting and continuous improvement
  • Oversees design, implementation and documentation for process control, process improvement, testing and inspection
  • Establishes and implements metrics (process capability, control charts, measurement quality) for monitoring operational effectiveness and to enable managers to make sound quality decisions
  • Oversees the planning, prioritization, management, execution and tracking of process improvement initiatives
  • Leverages data analytics to identify relevant historical and predictive key data elements to optimize performance and minimize risk
  • Works in a team environment to develop and implement best practices that emphasize defect prevention and reduction in variation
  • Tracks output KPI linked to the critical input variables
  • CPC on the critical input variables (from Process FMEA or Product FMEA)
  • Lead, update and communicate the defect catalog for the process
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering, Quality Process Management, or in a related field
  • 5 + years of Process Engineering experience; automotive industry preferred, specifically the aluminum industry
  • IATF or ISO Certification knowledge
  • FEMA Knowledge
  • Continuous Improvement and QMS Knowledge
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel
